In the BYU Financial Fitness Center, we help each student to wisely assume responsibility for their own financial well-being.  We serve as a trusted resource for financial guidance and information and help students to acquire and refine financial management skills.

Paul Conrad serves as the manager of the BYU Financial Fitness Center. He earned a B.S. Degree in Financial Services and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Paul has been affiliated with the Financial Aid Office on campus for 20 years and served previously as the Financial Aid Director. He also taught personal finance at Utah Valley University and currently teaches a family finance course at the BYU Salt Lake Center. Other work experience includes employment with TIAA CREF, LDS Foundation, UHEAA, and the BYU Benefits Office.

Bernard (Bud) Poduska

Advisory Board Member

Bud Poduska holds a B.S. and M.S. in Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. Teaching at colleges and universities for over 40 years, he also taught at BYU for 21 years and served as the Associate Chair of the Marriage and Family -Human Development Department for eight years. Bud has authored textbooks on personality adjustment, stress managment, and finances and relationships. He is currently serving as an adjunct professor in the Woodbury School of Business at UVU, and is the coordinator for their Pro Bono Financial Counseling Center. Bud is also serving a second 4 year term as a member of the Saratoga Springs City Council.

Happily married for 41 years, Bud and Barbara are the parents of five children, and have 15 grandchildren.

Bryan Sudweeks

Advisory Board Member

Dr. Bryan Sudweeks is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Marriott School of Management where he teaches classes related to Investments, Asset Management, Personal Finance, International Finance and Managerial Finance. Dr. Sudweeks is the author of ten books and numerous articles on investing and finance. He received his Ph.D. in Business Adminsitration from George Washington University in Washington D.C., an MBA and Bachelors in Mandarin Chinese from BYU, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

He is married to the former Anne Dewey of Alton, Illinois, and they are the parents of seven children, all boys except for six, and three grandchildren, all boys except for two.

Sunshine Cardell

Sunshine Cardell is an adjunct finance instructor for the Marriott School of Management. She received her MBA degree from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in finance and a B.S. in business finance from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Sunshine’s previous work experience includes consulting for start-up and small businesses, providing due diligence and analysis for investment decisions, and performing project management for the LDS Audiovisual Department.

A native of Idaho, Sunshine and her family now reside in Utah where she is involved in a variety of community and non-profit efforts.

William J. Welsh, III

Advisory Board Member

Bill Welsh is currently serving as the Collections Manager for BYU Student Financial Services. Previous experience includes President & Owner of the Credit Bureau of Provo, Credit Bureau of Price, Manager Motor Credit Company, owner Credit Bureau of Price Collection Service Division. Bill has served on various National boards of directors including Medical Dental Hospital Bureaus Association and Associated Credit Bureaus Inc. where he served as chairman of the board from 1999 to 2000. He was the legislative liaison for the Associated Credit Bureaus in the state of Utah and also provided input and participation at the national legislative level regarding the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Bill served with his wife Christine as Mission President of the Tahiti Papeete Mission from 2002 to 2005.
